The Interagency Wildland Fire Air Quality Response Program (IWFAQRP) is a collaborative effort among federal, state, tribal, and local agencies to address air quality issues related to wildland fires.

Our mission is to provide timely, accurate air quality information and deploy specialized Air Resource Advisors to wildfire incidents to protect public health and support incident management teams.

The program coordinates monitoring, forecasting, and public communication about smoke impacts from wildland fires across the United States.

Air Resource Advisors (ARAs) are technical specialists who provide expertise on air quality issues to wildfire incident management teams. They serve as the liaison between incident managers and air quality agencies.

ARAs monitor smoke impacts, forecast air quality conditions, coordinate with public health officials, and help develop smoke management strategies that protect firefighter and public health while supporting fire management objectives.
